I had to add donuts to the list because I have some facts that I bet you didn’t know about the junk food that’s commonly eaten in the morning. Plus, whether it’s classic, hole, stuffed, or mini, it’s a sweet treat.

These facts include:

  1. The doughnut industry generates 12 billion dollars a year.
  2. At the same time, more than 10 billion donuts are made each year.
  3. 80% of donuts are sold out before noon.
  4. A glazed doughnut has an average of 200 calories.
  5. The average American is the 34 donuts a year.
  6. 10 people in the world have the last name donut.
  7. The top 5 donut flavors are glazed, chocolate, sugared, powdered, and chocolate with sprinkles.
  8. The origin of the donut is unknown.
  9. “Doughnut” is the more traditional way of spelling the food but “donut” is acceptable as well.
  10. There is an association known as the National Dunking Association for doughnuts.
  11. National donut is on the 1st of every June.
